How can I help your child?
At MBW Tuition, I offer a variety of flexible services to support your child, no matter where they are on their learning journey. Each service is delivered with empathy, encouragement and a deep understanding of the challenges families face today. Here’s a closer look at what I offer:
Maths & English
Sometimes children fall behind, get stuck on a tricky topic, or lose a bit of confidence. Maybe a parents' evening raised some concerns, or perhaps you're just feeling that your child isn't quite where they should be. On the flip side, some children need an extra push to really thrive and stay engaged.

Whatever your child needs – a confidence boost, targeted support, or some stretch and challenge – I offer tailored sessions to match their level and learning style. From cracking times tables to spotting fronted adverbials, I provide patient, practical support that complements what they are doing at school. Life is busy, and even with the best intentions, it’s not always easy for parents to provide that focused time at home. That’s where I can step in.
11+ Exam Preparation
Preparing for the Warwickshire 11+ can feel overwhelming. The content is challenging, the exam is competitive, and the pressure can be high – for children and parents alike! If you're not quite sure where to begin, or if phrases like "GL-style verbal reasoning" make your head spin, you're not alone.

I offer calm, structured support that breaks the process down into manageable steps. Through regular practice, tailored teaching and clear strategies, I help children approach the 11+ with greater confidence. While I can’t promise a pass – nobody can – I do provide the guidance, encouragement and skills they need to give it their best shot.
Independent School Exam Preparation
The entrance process for independent schools can be quite different from the usual primary school experience. Each school has its own assessments, and the expectations can be high. As a parent who has supported my own children through the process (including gaining academic scholarships at Warwick Independent Schools Foundation), I know exactly what’s involved.

Whether your child is sitting a 7+ or 11+ assessment, I tailor lessons to the skills they’ll need to succeed – from creative writing, comprehension and maths to reasoning and interview preparation. My approach is supportive and encouraging, helping your child put their best foot forward.
Home Education Support
Home schooling can be a wonderful and rewarding choice – but it can also feel like a huge responsibility. If you're feeling unsure about how to cover everything or would like support in certain subject areas, I’m here to help.

I offer sessions that can supplement or complement your home learning routine, giving you peace of mind and providing your child with expert, one-to-one input. Whether you want regular support in core subjects or just a bit of backup in busy periods, I can work with you to design a plan that fits your family's needs.
Frequently Asked Questions
What age groups do you tutor?
I specialise in the Key Stage 2 curriculum, working with children in Years 3 to 6. I also prepare students for 7+ and 11+ entrance exams.

Where do sessions take place?
I run sessions from my fully resourced tutoring room at home in Hatton Park, which provides a peaceful and productive learning environment in a relaxed and informal setting. I do not offer online tuition or tuition at the child's home.

How long are the sessions?
Sessions are 60 minutes, but this can be adjusted depending on your child’s needs.

What are your fees?
Sessions cost £40 per hour. I offer a fair rate for high-quality, tailored tuition and all planning time and resources are included.

Are you DBS checked?
Yes – I hold an enhanced DBS certificate, which means I have been fully vetted to work with children. Your child’s safety and wellbeing are my top priorities, and I am always happy to share documentation if requested.

Do I have to commit to a weekly session for my child?
Most parents choose to book a weekly session to ensure consistency and steady progress. Regular sessions help build confidence and reinforce learning over time. I currently offer sessions on Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays after school, with additional availability during school holidays for extra support or catch-up sessions. I also appreciate that every family’s circumstances are different, so I offer flexible options for one-off or short-term sessions if that better suits your child’s needs.
Do you have personal experience with entrance exams?
Yes, I’ve successfully supported my own three children through the 11+ process, helping them gain entry to grammar schools in Stratford-upon-Avon. They have also passed entrance exams for Warwick Independent Schools Foundation and received academic scholarships. This gives me a unique insight into the challenges and expectations of these exams and how best to support children preparing for them.

Will tutoring guarantee that my child gains entry to grammar or independent schools?
Tutoring can make a significant difference in preparing your child for grammar and independent school entrance exams, but it cannot guarantee a place. These exams are highly competitive, and success depends on a combination of a child’s natural ability, commitment, and consistent practice at home. What I can offer is thorough preparation in subject knowledge, exam techniques, and strategies to help your child approach the tests with confidence and the best chance of success.
